Sean Sprague is a Canadian artist based in Los Angeles who works with photography, installation, and constructed images. His practice examines the limits of photographic representation, using compositing, staging, repetition, and fragmentation to explore how multiple perspectives, temporalities, and realities can coexist within a medium traditionally associated with singular description.

A significant strand of his practice developed through a long-term collaboration with anthropologist Alex Blanchette, author of Porkopolis (Duke University Press), examining industrial systems of animal agriculture and the relationship between photographic construction and the construction of social and economic realities.

His work has been exhibited at Division Gallery (Toronto), New Release Gallery (New York), Human Resources (Los Angeles), and the Houston Center for Photography, among other venues across North America. His projects have been featured in publications including The New Yorker and Time. His work has received support from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Wenner-Gren Foundation.

Sprague studied at the Ontario College of Art & Design and received an MFA from the University of California, Los Angeles. He currently lectures on media, photography, and contemporary art at the University of California, San Diego.
